India, China top earners in global BPO market
The global information technology and business process outsourcing market will end 2009 with total revenues of $373 billion, 14.4 per cent higher than the $326 billion recorded in 2008.
India and China will remain at the top of the list, with expected revenues amounting to $48 billion and $28 billion, respectively.

More than 3,000 new jobs will be opened up at the Clark freeport zone as a wave of business process outsourcing (BPO) firms settle in the area in the next three months, officials said yesterday.
Clark Development Corp. (CDC) assistant vice president for business development Bernardo Angeles Jr. said that at least 14 BPO companies have committed to opening 3,225 jobs, mostly for customer service representatives and call center agents.

The global outsourcing market is projected to clock US$373 billion in total revenue by the end of 2009, growing 14.4 percent over 2008, according to a report released Wednesday.
In the report by Canada-based research firm XMG Global, India and China were singled out as the market's top revenue generators, pulling in revenues worth US$48 billion and US$28 billion, respectively
MNCs use India units to broker outsourcing deals
The captive units of multinational companies are being called on to play a new role by their overseas parents. As many overseas companies with captives in India are realising the benefit of outsourcing to third party IT and BPO vendors, they are using the management expertise in their captive units to broker these deals. In many cases, the final contract is between the third party vendor and the Indian captive, rather than with the multinational parent and the third party vendor. This also gives them a price advantage since it is a domestic contract.
BPO deals from Japan are seeing good traction
Business process outsourcing (BPO) firms in the country are seeing increasing demand for their services from large automotive and engineering firms in Japan. The Japanese BPO market is estimated to be worth $100 billion.
BPO jobs to reach 1 million in 2010
The booming business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in the country is expected to employ at least one million Filipinos by 2010, Malacaņang said yesterday.
"From 4,000 in 2001, the number of BPO workers reached 350,000 in 2007, spurred on in part by the country's stable economic environment and by aggressive marketing abroad by the President Arroyo," the Palace said.

The bank is exploring all options, including a part or full sale of its back-office unit that does IT development as well as finance and accounting-related work for the parent, said three people familiar with the development.
Part of the work is also of knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) and involves equity research, complex financial modelling and portfolio analysis.
Iloilo, Guimaras eyed as next BPO hubs
The Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP) is looking at Iloilo City as a new investment hub for business process outsourcing and information technology, according to its top official. In a presentation at the Iloilo-Guimaras Investment Forum Friday, BPAP CEO Oscar R. Saņez said Iloilo was third in BPAP's Top 10 Next Wave Cities, due mainly to the low cost of doing business in the province and the availability of talents.
