Thomson Reuters chooses RP for outsourced legal content biz
Leading data provider Thomson Reuters has announced plans to expand its global legal content business and that it has chosen the Philippines to host its facility.

Gartner: India to Get Even Bigger in Outsourcing
India's share of the market is set to double between 2008 and 2010, says Gartner, citing demand for cheaper options during a global recession. According to Gartner, the top 20 India-centric BPO companies generated US$4 billion in revenue in 2008-5 percent of the US$80 billion created by the biggest 150 business process outsourcers worldwide.

Back Office Outsourcing: A Smart Way Of Increasing Profits By Reducing Costs
The very famous business process outsourcing (BPO) trend is some what synonymous to back office outsourcing. Back office work relates to that mundane paper work that people often find boring and a waste of time and talent. BPO sector likely to log revenues of $225 bn by 2020
The Indian IT-BPO industry is likely to touch revenues of $225 billion by 2020, of which exports will account for about $175 billion, as per a new report. The industry also has the potential to generate an additional $150 billion in revenues, provided it takes some measures to transform the business environment, infrastructure, talent development and innovativeness.

RR Donnelley Selected by Nokia as Provider of Printed Materials That Accompany Its Mobile Devices
R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NYSE: RRD) announced today that the agreement of providing the in-box materials that accompany Nokia's mobile devices manufactured in Europe has been expanded. This agreement expands and extends RR Donnelley's role as a global supplier to Nokia. Nokia is the world leader in mobile devices.

BPO profits likely to drop as much as 55%
Bank of America Securities-Merrill Lynch has cut the growth outlook for the pure-play Indian BPO sector drastically. Pointing to factors such drop in business volumes and bankruptcies among clients, besides an overall pricing pressure and competition from integrated players, the firm cut profit estimates by as much as 55% in some cases.

Credit Suisse to open second back office in India
Credit Suisse plans to set up its second back office in India by September and hire 350 staff by 2010 as it aims to reduce costs, the Swiss bank.

Smaller BPOs to feel the heat of downturn
"The ongoing economic crisis may hit so badly the smaller outsourcing companies that they may have to shut shop or larger players may take over them," said Lokendra Tomar, COO, Asia Pacific Region, Integreon. Tomar believes that U.S. and UK, major markets for outsourcing, will continue to be so and countries like Germany, Australia and Canada will emerge as potential markets for outsourcing.

Local BPO industry anticipates 50% growth in labor requirements
Business process outsourcing (BPO) service providers are retaining their workforce in the global financial crisis. According to the recently released survey by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines, at least 66 percent of respondents from the industry expect up to 50 percent growth in labor requirements.

More jobs expected in BPO industry
Amid the global economic slowdown, the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector continues to be the leading source of local employment as it is expected to generate more jobs in the country this year. The Department of Labor and Employment estimated that the BPO industry can generate as high as 120,000 jobs within the year.
